Naked Ladies, or amaryllis belladonna are a beautiful pink lily that bloom on a tall stalk and create a full foliage in off season. My yard is full of them. They are bulbous flowers and were planted by my boyfriends great, great grandmother in 1926.
While I was cleaning up my yard I trimmed back the foliage with out gloves which was a huge mistake. My eye felt like a had dropped a slight hint of peppermint into my eye. I immediately rinsed my eye out. After about two hour my eye was dilated three times the normal size and the other was a pin point. I went to the doctor the next day to find out that the naked ladies are highly poisonous and caused my eye to be effected and my face to feel strained. I would have never known that these flowers were poisonous to people and animals of all kinds.
